(Fishers - 2-4 July 2010) For the eighth consecutive season, the Indiana Society Color Guard performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the annual Independance Day Concerts at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park. Before an combined audience of over 34,000 people, the Color Guard presented colors during the National Anthem; recognized veterans; and paraded colors synchronized to live music from the motion picture "The Patriot." (Indianapolis - 31 May 2010) Accompanied Murat Highlander bagpipes and drums,
the Indiana Society Color Guard signaled the beginning of the annual Memorial
Day commemorations in Washington Park East Cemetery. This year's special
commemoration culminated with the unveiling of a unique and permanent public
tribute to honor all Hoosiers who have died in service to the Country, since
Vietnam. Pictured are Indiana National Guardsmen rendering honors to the
individuals whos names are inscribed in the new memorial.
Keynote speakers included Major General R. Martin Umbarger, the Adjutant General of Indiana, and two officers recently returned from operations in Iraq. Reading the Pledge of Allegiance was the Honorable Gregory A. Ballard, Mayor of Indianapolis. |

(Vincennes - 7 March 2010) As Indiana Society President Steven Oberlin reads the award citation, National Society President General Edward F. Butler prepares to pin the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal on Park Superintendent Dale Phillips. Indiana DAR Regent Martha Barnhart, PG Butler and President Oberlin presented wreaths at the George Rogers Clark Memorial on the site of Fort Sackville, captured by Clark from the British in February 1779. (Indianapolis - 5 September 2009) Before an estimated 20,000 spectators, the Indiana Society was the lead Color Guard, just behind the Indianapolis Police Department Motorcycle Drill Team, in the 2009 Miracle Mile Parade. This annual televised event was organized by local businesses to honor military and public safety professionals. Grand Marshal was Major General Martin Umbarger. (Indianapolis - 25 July 2009) With Compatriot General Douglas McArthur apparently showing approval, several chapters and the Indiana Society were recognized by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution for their 2008 participation in the Partners in Patriotism program. At the Indiana Society's Summer House of Delegates meeting, chapters recognized were: Anthony Halberstad, Ohio Valley, Continental, Daniel Guthrie, Clarence A.
