The Sons of the American Revolution is a historical, educational, and patriotic
"lineage" society comprised of male descendants of patriots who supported the
cause of American Independence during the years
1774-1783.

(Indianapolis - 23 January 2012) The Indiana Society presented an SAR flag to the
Roudebush Veterans Medical Facility, for permanent display with
the flags of other veteran and patriotic organizations on the 2nd floor rotunda. Accepting
the flag for the VA facility were Mr. Jeff Nechaniky, Associate Director, and Mr. Jim Todd,
Chief of Voluntary Services.
Presentation of the SAR flag concludes a twelve-year effort by long-time compatriot Captain
Lowell Nichols, USN (Ret), who was unable to attend due to illness, to install the SAR flag
at the Roudebush VA facility.

(Fishers - 1-4 July 2011) For the nineth consecutive season, the Indiana Society
Color Guard performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the annual
Independance Day Concerts at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park. Before an
combined audience of over 25,000 people, the Color Guard presented colors during
the National Anthem; recognized veterans; and paraded colors synchronized to live music
from the motion picture "The Patriot." The concerts conclude with the "1812 Overture"
accompanied by Indiana National Guard artillery.

(Near Columbia City - 6 November 2010) The Indiana Society dedicated a historical marker
commemorating the 230th anniversary of Colonel Augustin de LaBalme's defeat against a significantly
larger force of Miami Indians under Chief Little Turtle. The marker sits on the northeast corner
of the intersection of Old Trail Road and de LaBalme Road.

(Indianapolis - 31 May 2010) Accompanied Murat Highlander bagpipes and drums,
the Indiana Society Color Guard signaled the beginning of the annual Memorial
Day commemorations in Washington Park East Cemetery. This year's special
commemoration culminated with the unveiling of a unique and permanent public
tribute to honor all Hoosiers who have died in service to the Country, since
Vietnam. Pictured are Indiana National Guardsmen rendering honors to the
individuals whos names are inscribed in the new memorial.
Keynote speakers included Major General R. Martin Umbarger, the Adjutant General
of Indiana, and two officers recently returned from operations in Iraq. Reading the Pledge of
Allegiance was the Honorable Gregory A. Ballard, Mayor of Indianapolis. |
